Open source

Some of what makes Commingle great is open source.

Commingle is a commercial app, but parts of what we build are available to everyone. When we create a component, utility or piece of infrastructure that we think could be genuinely useful beyond Commingle, we occasionally release it to the Flutter community.

That includes both visual building blocks and some of the core utilities that power the app itself.

commingle_money

Beautiful money input and financial utilities for Flutter.

commingle_money grew out of our own need to make working with money in Flutter feel effortless.

At its heart is the money input used throughout Commingle, with beautiful as-you-type number presentation and formatting. It supports everything from straightforward amounts to arithmetic expressions, while keeping the input natural and responsive.

The package also includes a broader collection of financial utilities: structured data for 155 currencies worldwide, currency metadata and aggregation, formatting helpers and tools for performing common financial operations.

optimal_wrap_text

Short text that wraps the way your designer intended.

You know the problem: a short headline looks perfect in Figma, then one extra word or character pushes a lonely word onto another line.

optimal_wrap_text tackles exactly that.

It’s a small, highly optimised Flutter package that intelligently distributes words between lines to produce more visually balanced short text. Particularly useful for headlines, labels and other persistent UI copy where typography matters.

taptest

End-to-end Flutter tests that are fast to write and easy to maintain.

taptest was built to make E2E testing feel like part of everyday development rather than a chore.

It provides a concise way to write readable end-to-end tests, reducing boilerplate while making it easier to cover real user flows and catch regressions before they reach production.

The version used internally at Commingle continues to evolve, with the public 1.0.0 release coming soon.

Built for Commingle. Shared with Flutter.

These aren’t side projects created for the sake of having open-source repositories. They come directly from problems we’ve had to solve while building Commingle.

When one of those solutions becomes useful enough, generic enough and polished enough to stand on its own, we’d rather share it.

More will follow.
