What works well offline
You can access all your data from your last successful sync, so your transactions, categories, events, wallets and other information remain available offline.
You can safely add, edit and delete personal transactions. You can also add new shared transactions. These changes will be uploaded the next time Commingle syncs.
Changes to shared transactions
You can edit or delete existing shared transactions while offline, but these changes may conflict with updates made by your friends.
If someone changes the same transaction before you reconnect, your offline changes will most likely be rejected in favour of the newer version already synced.
Balances
Balances showing who owes whom require an internet connection to update. While offline, the balances you see reflect the state from your last successful sync.
Once you reconnect and Commingle synchronises, your balances will be updated.
Other changes
We recommend making changes to shortcuts, categories, events, wallets and settings while online.
You can make some of these changes offline, but if the data on your device becomes outdated – for example, because of activity from your friends or changes made on the server – your offline changes may be rejected when you sync.
Best practice
For everyday transaction tracking, feel free to use Commingle offline. For shared data or other changes, we recommend reconnecting and syncing first.
This reduces the chance of conflicts and ensures you’re working with the latest version of your data.
